EastDays Part 2: Tales From The Aborigines
morning clouds above cameron hills we got up even before the chicken starts crowing. some bathe with half their eyes open some chose not to soak themselves under the freezing water at such early time. dressed and prepared and off we go to cameron hills to catch the sunrise. most of us were still half asleep. when we reach, all were so excited that we reached before dawn but little do we know that it was a cloudy morning and what do a sky packed with clouds does best? screwing up the moment for a perfect sunrise. but up above wasn't so cruel to us all that they gave us beautiful clouds lid up by the glowing sun instead. so we didnt exactly leave with a empty heart. green green and a little red like ying and yang coexist. didn't i told you the clouds was beautiful! after cameron hills we went for breakfast and off to souvenir shop where the orang iban sells their traditional attires, weaponry and handcrafts. then we bump into a lady that sells her good along the big hall. she starts explaining to us how was their "sumpit" made and used along with the tiny arrows that can bring down a fierce tiger in mere seconds. she also shared with us her encounters with an arrogant and foolish tourist that did know believe what she said about the tiny arrow and how poisonous it was. the story was that all arrows are kept into a small container and that particular container is filled at the bottom with poisonous liquid so when the arrow touches the bottom of the container it is then considered usable for hunting. a shot in any part of the animal and in seconds it down on the ground helplessly. so what the idiot did was taking the arrow out from the container and gently pock himself with the arrow on this hand. trying to outsmart the aborigines by using the weapon that the aborigines made that it isn't so poisonour after all even when they themselves shot a freaky tiger and watched it died too. true enough, within minutes the tourist saw the light on the other side and went with it. never came back since then. we didnt follow the idiots footsteps so we get to proceed with the next thing which was learning how to use their sumpit! they thought us how to hold it and blow the arrow out. craftworks by the ibans they know about the hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil too! their traditional paintings i presume sumpit! posing all tourist like. the lady that told us the story while holding the container where the bottom of it is filled with poison showing us how the advance looking sumpit works! after the amazing tour in the souvenir shop with the ibans, we head to one of our friend's shop to buy bird nest! don't be too surprise that even bird nest have its amazing stories as well and not only the ibans. the sister explain to us which type is which and how did it came about it its shape, texture and colour. after the visit to the bird nest shop, crocodile farm was the next destination! look how much attention he put up just to understand it before buying all look so shocked to learn about the origins of bird nest crocodile farm!! crocs in a jar like pickles in a jar. sour when eaten the face reads what are you looking at punk? what'd up peeps? staring into space.... buck off, i need my sleep! sudah makan? feasting time!! all queing in a straight line lazing around is what i do best some was fierce some was arrogant doesn't this look like toruk makto from avatar and this looks like the floating land in avatar as well bambie! i'm enjoy the sun!! shit! i'm hooked playing puppy! which is the real wild animal? the one inside the cage or the one outside? petting the horse playing with the goat the stuck between logs fut is having a good time with the ape statue group shot! note: some of the pics were taken by the rest because i was too ill to take pictures. the fever was killing me.
